jakey's blankies

Our baby, Jake Alan Dennison, was born on Jan 21st, 2009. He was born with HLHS and lost his tough battle 19 days later. He was such a joy to have for those 19 days. you can read his story by clicking this picture:

During Jake's life, some sweet friends of ours gave Jake two special blankets made from ultra-soft minky. He LOVED to snuggle in his blankets.
One white for his blessing day

One giraffe print for when we held him one last time...

Just a few months after Jake passed away, our family started "jakey's blankies." This is a way for us to pay it forward to other families with babies with heart conditions. With your help, we have been able to sew over 200 minky blankets for other babies born with heart defects just like Jake!! We know how special these babies are. With your donations, we can continue this project each year in memory of our sweet Baby Jake. We are going to hold this donation drive for the duration he lived...19 days. It starts today, his birthday, Jan 21-Feb 9th.
We love you all and thank you for your continued support!
You can donate via paypal with a check or Credit card here, or click the donate link on the right.

Happy Birthday...

Happy Birthday, Baby Jakey!!
(5 hours old!)
(I remember when this photo was taken. You were 12 days old. You had just had surgery 5 days earlier. I wasn't able to hold you after your surgery. Finally, after 5 days, you were extubated and my amazing nurse, Nicole, let me hold you. I held you for 2 hours. I felt like such a normal mom!! I rocked you, sang to you, talked to you, and I even talked on the phone and watched TV! Almost felt like a normal newborn....except for all the tubes. I was in pure heaven. It was one of those tender mercies...because 1 day later was that fateful day that everything went terribly wrong in the cath lab. I'm not going to dwell  on that. I want to remember the amazing 2 hours we spent together. Just me and you. All your stats were GREAT. I wished I could climb in your bed and hold you all night long.
Thanks for those 2 hours, buddy.)
I love you and miss you!!
Love,
Mommy

More updates

Ok, here is another update of Nov and Dec. For Nov, at the beginning, we went to Disneyland! We hadn't been in a while, so why not! :)

The girls LOVED meeting Rapunzel. Payton went since the boy was in the picture too! :)
Lexi didn't love splash mountain, but we had fun getting her to go on it once! It was WARM, so we spent a lot of time on Splash mountain. Lexi's new favorite ride was Grizzly Run. She loved it! And loved getting wet! I think we went 3 times a day! haha!

A week later we went to the Gilbert Temple Groundbreaking. We are VERY excited to have a temple in Gilbert! It will be 1 mile south of our house!
Maddie got a picture with the Golden shovels before the ceremony, but had to leave right before it ended, but me and Lexi and Payton stayed and got to shovel the ground with the golden shovels. I am SO glad my kids got to go to this.

That same day Lexi got in the pool. She had been dying to go swimming, so she got in. It wasn't freezing, but it was pretty cold! (about 55') She can hardly wait for spring/summer!

Every year for Thanksgiving my whole family goes to the zoo. We had so much fun! Check out all those grand kids!

Maddie was in the Nutcracker. She was a Gingerette! Here she is in full costume and Make-up! She had SO much fun, and was SO cute!

Here are ALL of the gingerettes!! This is the pose for the finale! So cute!

In the beginning of December we got to visit Santa and
And Mrs. Clause

Even Payton sat on Santa's lap. He really wanted the candy cane.

The kids had their choir concert. Lexi's first one! You could hear her over all 60 kindergartners! She did great! Doesn't she look cute! (she is in the front row, white skirt, black jacket, pink sash.)
The kids got their jammies from the elves....

Maddie got horses, of course...
Lexi got cute hearts!!

Tyler even got me jammies!

We hope you had a great Christmas and a memorable 2010. I know we did! We didn't send out Christmas cards this year, so don't be offended if you didn't get any....no one did!
I will update January soon!
